AMYRA is a musician, author, director and Harlem Native, seamlessly transcending genre and medium. She has carved out a distinctive niche in both the music and literary realms, captivating audiences with her soul-stirring performances and thought-provoking lyrics. With a profound dedication to social justice, Amyra’s work delves into themes of identity and liberation, urging listeners to critically examine the world around them. She pursued studies in Experimental Theatre at NYU and is an esteemed alumna of the renowned Nuyorican Slam Team. Amyra is the author of critically acclaimed books “Concrete Kids” (Penguin) and “Freedom We Sing” (Nobrow). She has toured with her music extensively gracing stages at Lincoln Center, BAM, The Apollo Cafe, Joes Pub, Hammer Museum, Southbank Center, Montpellier National Opera, Theatre du Chatelet, The Gulbenkian Foundation and more.

She is the Artist in Residence at the Louis Armstrong Museum where she has spent the last year summoning new work in response to Louis Armstrong’s extensive archive. Amyra is currently immersed in the creation of her highly anticipated adult poetry collection and preparing to release her third studio album Summer 2024!
