EMEWS to the East

A prominent Detroit electronic music ensemble plans to present free concerts and workshops in four cities

The Electronic Music Ensemble of Wayne State (EMEWS) will tour multiple cities in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio, presenting original music specifically written for an electronic ensemble of eight or more performers during the first week of November. In each city, the ensemble will host a concert with the local electronic music groups at leading institutions and present workshops about starting an electronic ensemble.

EMEWS will start the tour at the Richmond University, VA as a part of the featured artists at the Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival (Ben Broening, director). Then, the group will visit the Boyer College Electroacoustic Ensemble (BEEP) at Temple University, PA (Adam Vidiksis, director) and Rutgers Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation Group (RIME) at Rutgers University, NJ (Steven Kember, director). On the way back, the band will meet the Oberlin Improvisation and Newmusic Collective (OINC) of Oberlin Conservatory, OH (Aurie Hsu, director) and finish the tour with a concert at their home turf in the Wayne State University, MI (Jon Anderson, concert co-host). All shows and workshops are free and open to the public
