Applications open for our new Small Grant Fund in Portland, OR.

The Small Grant Fund is a new initiative that New Music USA is developing across different US cities and regions where we have identified opportunities for collaboration with patrons and other funders who are passionate about supporting a music community which is significant to them. This sits alongside our New Music Capacity Building program which, over the coming years, will demonstrate our aim to work locally and regionally to increase and deepen our impact across the many diverse music communities in the US.

Our first Small Grant Fund offers support to non-profit organizations, performance groups, festivals, presenters, and venues in Portland, Oregon who need support to help re-boot their programming of new music and nurturing of music creators following the disruption of the past few years. It has been made possible by a donor who is passionate about Portland’s new music scene. They wish to remain anonymous.

We aim to support and represent a broad range of organizations and genres across the region and would like to build connectivity amongst the organizations we support to facilitate shared learning, exchange of ideas, and opportunities. We are particularly interested in supporting organizations which are having a deep and consistent impact on their community of artists and music lovers.

New Music USA will provide one-time grants of $3,000 each to 10 Portland-area organizations. Funding may be used for general operating costs which support the organization’s regular programming and collaboration with US-based composers and artists. It does not need to be tied to any specific project but we are asking you to tell us about the live performances in Portland that New Music USA’s support would help you with. The deadline to apply is September 27, 2022.
