Caramoor Presents Michael Gordon’s Field of Vision
The world premiere of Michael Gordon’s Field of Vision, a site-specific work for Caramoor's Sunken Garden, features 40+ percussionists.
Michael Gordon’s Field of Vision is a large-scale, site-specific work for Caramoor’s Sunken Garden and the surrounding field. The work features 48 percussionists; 24 in a spatial chain of moving sound in dialogue with 24 percussionists who come in and out of view. The percussionists, led by Doug Perkins and featuring the Bang on a Can Percussion Ensemble, will perform on newly created instruments made from recycled metal and wood. This immersive outdoor concert experience is free and suitable for all ages. Other free events associated with the concert include a talk by Michael Gordon and a sound artist “gathering” at which the audience can discover our new permanent installation by Trimpin, in “C,” and explore other Sonic Innovations works with curator Stephan Moore and artists including Trimpin, Taylor Deupree, Miya Masaoka, and others.
