Project: Frequency Of Hope

The funds received from New Music USA will be instrumental in supporting various aspects of the music composition process for the documentary “Frequency of Hope.” The grant will be allocated to cover some (if not all) of the following key expenses:

  • Orchestration and preparation to ensure the score is meticulously crafted and professionally prepared for recording
  • Hiring talented musicians and securing a top-notch recording studio, providing the highest quality performance and recording of the score
  • Travel expenses, with the aspiration of recording the score in Nashville, TN, a hub for musical talent and world-class studios
  • Contingency funds to accommodate any unforeseen expenses that may arise during the project

These funds will not only contribute to the creation of a deeply emotional and impactful score but also support the documentary’s powerful message of hope and redemption.

About the Score

The score for “Frequency of Hope” aims to underscore the raw, emotional journey of Erin Moore as she rebuilds her life and reconnects with her children. The music will be a delicate balance of somber, introspective moments and uplifting, inspiring passages, mirroring Erin’s transformation and resilience.

Utilizing a blend of orchestral and contemporary elements, the score will create a rich, cinematic soundscape that resonates with the film’s Alaskan backdrop and the tenacity of the human spirit. Drawing on my expertise in composition and diverse musical background, I will create a score that underscores the documentary’s narrative with nuance and sensitivity.

The source of inspiration for the score of “Frequency of Hope” is deeply rooted in Erin Moore’s compelling journey and the documentary’s powerful themes. The resilience, strength, and determination displayed by Erin and her family serve as a driving force for the music, reflecting their unwavering hope in the face of adversity.
The score will seek to capture the emotional complexity of Erin’s story, from moments of despair and loss to triumph and redemption. The documentary’s emphasis on community and the power of storytelling also inspires the music, as it aims to evoke empathy and understanding for those facing addiction and hardship.

Furthermore, the unique narrative style, blending fractured memories, vérité, and symbolic interviews, presents a rich palette for musical creativity and experimentation. The score will aim to seamlessly integrate with the film’s storytelling, enhancing its impact and honoring Erin’s journey and everyone who feels represented in one way or another on it.
