Victor Wooten Concert and Masterclass
Victor Wooten, voted one of the Top 10 Bassists of All Time by readers of Rolling Stone magazine, will perform on June 3 at the Enlow Recital Hall, at Kean University. The event will support the nonprofit Institute of Music for Children. The evening will include a Masterclass taught by Wooten at 4:30 pm, a concert at 8:00 pm, followed by a VIP party.
Wooten, a five-time Grammy winning artist, is a founding member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, has played with the Dave Matthews Band, and was the first electric bass soloist to appear with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Proceeds will go to the Institute of Music, a nonprofit organization that provides music, dance, theater, visual arts, and multimedia programs to over 900 underserved students each year. Programs serve low-income Black and Latinx children ages 5-18 in Union and surrounding counties. The Institute provides highly subsidized tuition, internationally recognized teaching artists, bilingual supports, and a safe space for inner-city youth to meet.
