BOWLING GREEN, OH — The MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music (MACCM) at
Bowling Green State University announces the 47th Annual Bowling Green New Music
Festival, taking place October 15–17, 2026, at the Moore Musical Arts Center on the BGSU

This year’s festival places Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe at the center of a
three-day celebration of contemporary music, featuring a wide-ranging selection of her works
alongside music by composers connected to Wolfe through collaboration, performance,
influence, and the broader contemporary music community.
One of the festival’s major highlights will be the Ohio premiere of Jake Runestad’s Vincent’s
Sky for Wind Symphony and Chorus, commissioned by BGSU, bringing together large
instrumental and vocal forces with video projections.
The festival will also feature music by an extraordinary roster of contemporary composers,
including George Lewis, Liza Lim, David Lang, Cole Reyes, Reena Esmail, Eric Whitacre,
Shara Nova, Erik Santos, Anthony Marasco, Michael Gordon, Stephen Hartke, Shelley
Washington, Gemma Peacocke, and Robert Honstein, as well as BGSU faculty composers
John Eagle, Marilyn Shrude, Gulli Björnsson, and Michael Laurello.
