SIlents Under the Stars
“Silents Under the Stars” is a silent film screening featuring live improvised piano music by Los Angeles based composer Michael D. Mortilla. This year marks the 40 seasons of the event and 39 seasons with Mr. Mortilla’s improvised film scores. The event is free and open to the public ay the King Gillette National Park, about 45 minutes (north on the 101) from downtown LA. This is the last event in the series for 2026 and will feature an extraordinary and rarely publicly screened silent film “The Trail of 98.”
The film was directed by Clarence Brown who owned the property where King Gillette National Park is now located.
