The Glass Farm Ensemble proudly presents "Romance," a captivating program celebrating odes to love and passion. The evening's highlight is the world premiere of Elizabeth Hoffman's commissioned work, "flights of fancy." This extraordinary composition, tailored for the unique instrumentation of violin, bassoon, and piano, is a passionate romance dedicated to and inspired by these three musicians and their instruments. Louis Andriessen's three pieces are heartfelt compositions he crafted as precious gifts for dear friends. Willy Burkhard's "Romanze" is an emotionally charged piece, bearing Burkhard's signature mid-20th-century musical style. Stefano Gervasoni offers another ode to a beloved figure, in this case, none other than Mozart. Within Mozart's "Adagio für Glasharmonika" KV 356, Gervasoni injects delightful and sometimes whimsical commentary through the violin. Denis Schuler's "1444" for violin and piano pays homage to the first painting in Western culture to realistically depict a landscape. Balz Trümpy's "Rezitativ and Arioso" is an excerpt from the collection "To Florestan and Eusebius." It stands as a fervent tribute to the great Robert Schumann.
