New Douglas Hedwig Work to Premiere in Dresden, Germany
On October 25th Douglas Hedwig’s three-movement work for trombone and organ, Antarā, will receive its premiere in Dresden, Germany, performed by trombonist Julia Nagel, Principal with the Sinfonia Leipzig, and Holger Gehring, organist at the historic Kreuzkirche. Essentially a fusion-style composition, it reflects Hedwig’s interest in music of India and South Asia. Originally conceived for trombone and piano (contained on Hedwig’s recent CD recording, https://www.msrcd.com/catalog/cd/MS1811) this new version for organ expands the works tonal and textural contrasts.
