Metropolitan Harmonies
It’s that time of year again! New York Women Composers is thrilled to host its sixth annual Gala and Silent Auction, Metropolitan Harmonies, on October 21st, 2026, at FiDi Creatives. The night is a celebration of NYWC’s impact and advocacy of women in contemporary music in its 42nd year. Join us for a joyous evening of music, and help support NYWC’s programs, including our signature Seed Money Grant.
This year, NYWC is proud to honor pianist, music educator, musicologist, and radio host of “Classical Discoveries” on WPRB, Dr. Marvin Rosen, for his passion and dedication to platforming women composers. As honoree, Dr. Rosen will stage a special live radio show and perform pieces by Beth Anderson, Jennifer Castellano, and Rain Worthington.
Metropolitan Harmonies will also have performances by Board Chair, Kim Sherman, Jeanne Velonis (winner of the 2025 Auction “Commission a Composer”), and Seed Money Grant recipients, Skyline Bones. The concert program will include pieces by Kim Sherman, Eleanor Aversa, and Faye-Ellen Silverman.
The Silent Auction will give guests a chance to bid on items ranging from a composer commission to theatre tickets and fine gifts. Metropolitan Harmonies will be held at FiDi Creatives (106 Fulton St 3rd floor, New York, NY 10038). The venue is accessible and off the A/C, 2/3, 4/5, and J subway lines. The doors will open at 6:30 PM, with the program beginning at 7 PM.
After an excellent year of championing women composers, NYWC is excited to celebrate among friends and supporters. We hope to see you there!
