Laura Elkelassy Vinyl Record Release Concert @ Habibi Fest

A vocalist, composer and interdisciplinary artist, Laura draws from the rich musical traditions of North Africa, particularly the repertoire of Arab-Jewish women singers whose music traveled across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, France and beyond. Her project Ya Ghorbati / Divas in Exile brings these songs into the present, exploring migration, memory, language and belonging while honoring the women who carried this repertoire across generations.

Laura’s work moves between Arabic, Amazigh and Jewish musical traditions, jazz and contemporary experimentation, creating music that feels at once archival and completely alive.

Join Laura Elkeslassy for the closing night of Habibi Festival at Joe’s Pub on Sunday, October 11, followed by an on-stage conversation with afikra.
