Hurting, Healiing, Hoping: A Trio of Medical Operas

I have written the librettos for and produced five operas performed on three continents, and I find this art form ideal for moving minds and touching hearts.  A long line of research shows that story is central to connecting ideas with people, and when the cognitive elements of narrative are combined with the emotional capacities of music, the result can be extremely effective.  Through these operas, we hope to cultivate empathy, humility, and gratitude among first responders, therapists, nurses, and doctors—and those who are hurting, hoping, and healing. …Jeffrey Lockwood
