Free Virtual Masterclass: Composition and Film Scoring with Anna Meredith

On Saturday, May 9 at 1:30PM ET, composer, producer, and performer Anna Meredith will join a moderated discussion with Luna Composition Lab 2025-26 fellows and alumni as part of our free Virtual Master Class series. Anna will speak about the process of composition and her genre-defying work across film and TV soundtracks, contemporary classical, art pop, electronica, installations, and experimental rock, followed by an open Q&A.

About Anna Meredith:

Anna Meredith is a composer, producer and performer of both acoustic and electronic music. Her sound is frequently described as ‘uncategorisable’ and ‘genre-defying’ and straddles the worlds of contemporary classical, art pop, soundtracks, electronica, installations and experimental rock. Her CV includes being Composer in Residence at the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, commissions for the First and Last night of the BBC Proms and countless performances and commissions with leading orchestras and ensembles across the globe. Her installation pieces include interactive works for dodgems, lifts, sleep pods and a zamboni ice clearing machine. She has released numerous albums including Varmints (winner of the SAY Award) and FIBS (shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and named Electronic Sound’s Album of the Year) and regularly tours with her 5-piece band. Their live show has been described as ‘sheer exhilaration’ by the New York Times, and as ‘a stormy, ecstatic, endlessly danceable thrill to behold…’ by NPR’s Bob Boilen. Her film and TV scoring work includes Eighth Grade (A24), Living With Yourself (Netflix), the BIFA-nominated The End We Start From (Paramount) and TUESDAY (A24). She is currently working on her third studio album.

This class will be particularly valuable for young composers interested in writing for film and television, as well as musicians exploring a wide range of genres and formats both familiar and unexpected.
