Five Borough Songbook, Volume III – Manhattan Premiere
Five Boroughs Music Festival and On Site Opera are proud to present the Manhattan premiere of the Five Borough Songbook, Volume III, a collection of 15 new songs performed and written by an all-star lineup of performers and composers, in the beautiful Chapel at Hebrew Union College.
The cycle features three songs dedicated to each borough, including three for Manhattan: a winter scene in Washington Square Park, a love story (and biting social commentary) at the Symphony, and a 24-hour time warp set in Times Square.
The Songbook’s performers include singers from the new super-group Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble – Nicole Joseph, Gitanjali Mathur, Cecilia Duarte, Haitham Haidar, and Jonathan Woody – and pianist Erika Switzer, violinist Pala Garcia, and cellist John Popham; its 15 brilliant new songs were composed by Arianne Abela, Raquel Acevedo Klein, Kinan Azmeh, Colin Britt, Majel Connery, Laura Jobin-Acosta, Will Healy, Brian Lawlor, Jessica Meyer, Angélica Negrón, Nkeiru Okoye, Juri Seo, Aaron Siegel, Darian Donovan Thomas, and Jonathan Woody.
