Esteban Castro

Esteban Castro is a pianist and composer based in Brooklyn, NY. A recent graduate of The Juilliard School, they have performed alongside artists including Ambrose Akinmusire, Billy Drummond, Peter Evans, Harish Raghavan, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Marvin “Bugalu” Smith, Wadada Leo Smith, and Walter Smith III. In 2023, they were a finalist for the American Piano Awards, and in 2025 they received the Gilmore Festival Bell Young Jazz Award.

Castro regularly leads their own projects, performing throughout New York City and abroad. Their playing and compositional style draws on a wide range of musical influences, brought together through a heartfelt and personal approach to improvisation. At the core of their music is a desire to move listeners deeply.
