echo/location

echo/location amplifies the reverberations of our collective listening to the space we occupy. In repetition, processes of change arise by nature, refracted through a landscape of moving bodies and acoustic vibrations. This is SHIFT, ECHOensemble’s creative practice, born from Mary Overlie’s Viewpoints, Steve Reich’s process music, Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening, and years of messy research. Come listen with us.

ECHOensemble has been exploring what it means to practice change through listening, movement and sound for four years. Directed by Jonah Udall, they have performed at Dixon Place, Teatro Latea, Basement Gallery, in residence at Dragon’s Egg in Mystic, CT, and in abandoned commercial spaces for ChaShaMa across NYC.
