Enjoy an evening of live music from Composers Now, featuring performances by three Queens-based composers.

Founded in 2010 by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Tania León, Composers Now champions living composers, amplifies the richness of their diverse voices, and elevates their artistic contributions to the cultural fabric of our time. Composers Now provides opportunities in the form of concerts, commissions, creative residencies, mentorship, and more to further living composers’ creativity, advance their careers, celebrate their successes, and build audiences for their work.

This program features three Queens-based composers whose work reflects a rich range of global influences and musical traditions. Born in Malaysia and raised in Japan, Masatora Goya creates music that explores drama, space, emotion, and memory, earning recognition from the American Composers Forum as a “composer of cultural crossroads.” Sri Lankan-born Australian composer Nirmali Fenn draws on a life in motion to create works that explore the idea of home, with recordings praised for their emotional depth and sculptural fluidity. Colombian-born Andrés Jiménez, known professionally as Dilemastronauta, blends electronic, tropical, and experimental sounds into his genre-defying “Tropical Futuristic” music, shaped by more than 25 years as an artist in New York.
