Carl Orff’s Astutuli
The U.S and English-language premiere of Carl Orff’s Astutuli. Composed in 1953, Astutuli is a satire showcasing Orff’s vision of music, movement, and spoken word coming together for an immersive theatrical experience. In this musical fable, a sly trickster deceives an entire village, but begs a question that still rings true today: who’s really the fool? Astutuli is presented as a collaboration between the NYU Percussion Ensemble and the Program in Educational Theatre.
