AURA presents music that explores a wide variety of topographies. Allison Loggins-Hull’s “The Pattern” embodies the historically tumultuous relationship between White and Black Americans, identifying past oppression and evoking optimism and hope for the future. A god of fertility and doorkeeper to the underworld is the subject of “Ningishzida”, a brand-new work by UH alum Kyle Rivera, while stormy cloud formations serve as the inspiration for Roger Zare’s trio “Asperitas.” Tim Holt’s “Three Studies on the Human Form” and Marcos Balter’s “Ear, Skin, and Bone Riddles” explore the contours of the human body. This program also includes a premiere of a new work by composer, clarinetist and UH alum Victor Rangel.
